Last Monday, my husband had a minor accident to the tune of a 2nd degree burn in his stomach and upper thigh as the water radiator from our car spilled over to him after an overheat incident. Yes! my husband knows that he shouldn’t be opening the radiator cap at the time that we have turned off the engine but he isn’t really feeling well and just tried to rescue me and my 1 year old baby under the heat of the sun at SLEX :D ….
SLEX patrol team came immediately to where we are (they mentioned SLEX has many cameras around for easy monitoring) and the LIFELINE Rescue Ambulance soon came afterwards to give my hubby the first-aid needed and brought him to Asian Hospital for proper medical treatment at NO COST! So there’s still something for free at this time huh! J I’m so used to be doing things and getting help for whatever with a fee … so the world is getting better now J
Just for everyone’s information, here’s the first-aid tip for burns which I learned because of this unfortunate event ….
- Apply cold running water to the burn at least 20 minutes
- If no running water available, wet a cloth and apply onto the burn area
Bring the patient to the doctor. It is important that an expert see’s the extent of the burn so that right medicine will be applied. Better to do it right than to get infection and prolong your suffering.
Anyway, the nurses at the ER continued to apply water and the doctor put on FLAMMAZINE CREAM on the affected area. Be generous in putting cream. He was given also an anti-tetanus shot to ensure not to get any infection. We were soon released and paid a whooping 7,000 pesos for that … hahaha so now you have an idea how Asian would cost :D
After a few hours upon arriving home, bubbles starting to form in the infected area and we were told to have a Surgeon remove the water and trim the dead skins and so we did (this we did the day after). I tell you it is not a very good sight watching the Surgeon do it seeing the inner skin ..yiiikeees! But I’m brave and thank God it wasn’t me ..LOL!
It’s been 5 days since the incident and the wounds are still fresh but thank GOD no infection surfaced and I hope there will be none.
So guys be careful .. always be alert and have presence of mind all the time J
